After this, we will have Respect for the Aged Day and then the autumnal equinox.
And in my hometown,
On this autumnal equinox, the "Hachiman Shrine Annual Festival" and "Awa Province Priest"
This is a huge festival with over 1,000 years of tradition.
The local nickname is "Yawatanmachi".
It has been designated as an intangible folk cultural property of Chiba Prefecture.
I've been participating for as long as I can remember.
When I was living in Tokyo and working in retail, I couldn't go back home.
From the mid-40s onwards, as the store staff grew,
I've been visiting my hometown for a long time.
Three years ago, Chiba Prefecture suffered major damage from Typhoon No.
Tateyama City also suffered major damage.
This year the festival itself was cancelled.
After that, it was canceled for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Although the scale will be smaller, it will be the first time the event has been held in four years!
In our town, Shinmeicho, preparations are also progressing steadily... 
The other day we also did a thorough cleaning of the floats.
The repairs to the curtains around the building have not yet been completed.
Although it is a stripped state (sweat)
In 2022, the event will take place over two days, Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, September 18th.

During this festival, everyone in the town wears matching costumes.
The hanten coats made in our town, Shinmeicho, are a beautiful navy blue dyed with genuine indigo.
The indigo that we're talking about is the indigo that everyone loves.

WW2 utility jacket.
A pullover type, rare for US military items.
I found this jacket
When I was in my twenties, I went to America alone to buy goods.
I still vividly remember the moment I found it.
Los Angeles, California
A privately owned thrift store on Sunset Boulevard.
There was only one denim item hanging on the rack.
Other items include wool jackets and polyester dresses.
The rack was full to the brim,
This denim jacket was the only one that "looked shiny for some reason"!
When I pulled it out of the rack,
I remember screaming in my head, "Oh! It's WWII!"
If you find a second one at the thrift store,
I was thinking of selling this but...
After that, I never found it again.
So, this is a rare species that I have had on hand for nearly 40 years. 
The buttons are made of an alloy of aluminum and tin.
It is stamped with USARMY.
The denim is light denim, about 8 ounces.
Of course, it is uneven yarn denim that fades vertically.
However…
As I researched this jacket, I discovered some interesting facts.
Apparently, this shape has been around since the early 1900s, before WWII.
During WW1, they were made from twill and serge instead of denim.
It's an antique from over 100 years ago.
I can hardly find the actual item (lol)
I love this style and would love to try it on.

The colors that exist from that time are:
Olive drab and khaki,
Beige, brown, etc.
I happened to find a nice looking serge in dead stock, so
Produced from that fabric.
The buttons are not engraved with the word USARMY.
It has an antique style with laurel carvings.
Looking at the vintage
The older the button, the less likely it was a military button.
So I decided to try and recreate it faithfully.
And now, the long-awaited reproduction,

The material is 8.5 oz denim, a little thicker than the vintage denim.
Of course, since it is uneven yarn denim, it will fade vertically.

This jacket features two large pockets on the front.
You can put things in and take them out through the pocket opening in the center.
