The day of Kanro, one of the 24 solar terms, is approaching.
This is Sakemaru.
The nights are getting longer,
It's time to put on your headlamps.
Meanwhile, last week we had several sunny days...
The red spider lilies are rumored to be beautiful.
I went to a place called Oyama Senmaida.
as its name suggests,
The rice terraces continue endlessly from the top of the mountain.
Bright red spider lilies can be seen stretching into the distance along the footpath.
beautiful.
Close-up!
Apparently, the roots (bulbs?) of red spider lilies are poisonous.
Apparently, in the past, they were planted on the edges of rice fields to keep wild boars away.
It occurred to me that this was why there were so many of them in rice fields.
Beautiful flowers are poisonous (secret).
Now.
The mornings and evenings are getting quite cold,
I've been wanting some heavy wool armor lately.
Today's Sakemaru blog is,
I would like to explain the masterpiece "Car Coat Pharaohs".
This is a great read for those long autumn nights.
Featured in the movie "American Graffiti"
The delinquent team "Pharaohs".
Most of the scenes in the movie are at night.
A warm-looking jacket made of dark wool material.
But the fact that I only had a short-sleeved T-shirt underneath
It's very California-like.
The car coat worn in this film,
This was made with a movie fan's perspective in mind!
Solid Car Coat "Pharaohs"!
The front view is,
Please refer to the homepage.
The most distinctive feature of this jacket is
This back view!
Do you understand?
(Sorry for the out-of-focus photo: lol)
The position of the chenille (a patch of sagara embroidery) on the back is
That's much lower than normal!
Usually, these chenilles are placed just above the shoulder blades,
In other words, it's something that you stick on around the sleeve area...
In the movie, it's much lower...
It comes out in an arc from around the armpit.
Why is this? I thought about it.
Although it is a story in the movie...
The film depicts one night in a small town in California.
In the small town where the story takes place,
The members of the bad team
They must have been replaced frequently (due to graduation, accidents, etc.).
So this jacket is
It is thought that it was passed on to people of various body types in succession.
That means even if you are quite small or thin,
I must have worn it oversized.
In other words, if you stick chenille around your shoulder blades,
Since the car coat is long, there is a lot of loose material at the bottom.
So maybe it was stuck somewhere below (under the arm) which is outside of common sense?
(This is just my profiling)
Japanese people tend to have a narrow chest, so
The arc will also be a somewhat sharp curve.
That is also beautiful.
And the chenille itself is made with incredible care!
Usually, today's chenilles are
All you have to do is attach the brushed embroidery thread onto the felt...
In the case of Dry Bones,
First of all, the felt base into which the embroidery thread is attached is 2mm thick!
Underneath that is a 3mm thick layer of felt that acts as a cornerstone supporting the base!
To put the two pieces of felt together,
The chain embroidery is moved and struck in a variety of ways!
What's more, the felt also uses a fabric called cheesecloth, which prevents it from stretching.
In the 1950s,
We insist on the same specifications as when ordering a Car Club Jacket!
And as a bit of trivia…
The origins of this chenille font design are also
I tried profiling.
The club name is "Pharaohs".
The famous king of ancient Egypt.
This is what he's like (a rough introduction).
Check out this guy's head!
Yes, there's a cobra attached to it!
Cobras intimidate opponents by spreading their ribs and revealing their patterns.
The font that is used is based on that pattern.
I think it's the Pharaohs!
While watching a movie,
I've always been curious about these eyeball-like alphabets.
It must be based on the image of a cobra.
