2023年白露の酒丸。

Hakuro Sakemaru 2023.

September 8th is the start of "Hakuro" according to the 24 solar terms.
White dew is the time when morning dew covers the flowers and plants and they begin to look shiny white.
A typhoon is hitting Japan today.
It looks like it's going to get cooler from tomorrow onwards.

On a different note...
I'd like to describe the dramatic turn of events that took place in my garden.

It's a bit hard to see because of the bookshelf reflected in the glass... (sigh)
The black cat in the upper right corner of the photo is
There's a stray cat named Hachiware that often comes to our house.
Meanwhile, in the lower left,
A tabby-colored cat named Tabby recently came to live with us.
Hachiware has a good physique,
He was such a big eater that he would ask for seconds at our feeding station...
On this day, when I put the refill on the plate as usual,
A newcomer, Tabby, came stomping along.
The Hachiware was about to eat the second bowl of food.
I was frozen at the sight of Tabby.
He is looking away.
Tabby then glares at Hachiware.
The tabby is a size larger and has a bigger face.
Soon, Hachiware had just one bite of food,
He has gone somewhere.
Tabby eats most of the rest...
After that, he started taking naps around my house every day.
From the previous boss, Hachiware,
That was the moment when Tabby took over.
The cat world is also tough in many ways.

So, for that reason (how?)...
Today we are introducing a new jacket that has just arrived.

First, the overall shape.

Using a slightly unusual denim called broken denim,
I made a chore jacket.

First of all, what is a "chore jacket"?
Let me start by answering your questions.

The term "chore jacket" has become increasingly popular in recent years.
This style would previously have been called a work jacket or overalls.
A work jacket is a broader term for a jacket worn while working.
Overalls are more like a professional work jacket.
Railroad worker overalls.
And this chore jacket...
It is mainly used as a jacket to wear when doing light work at home.
There is a history that has been made.
Therefore, the length is short and it is easy to work in.
There are also no specialized pockets.
They became almost extinct after the 1940s.
In other words, it is a form that existed before the 1930s.
Naturally, since it is over 100 years old , there are few of them left.
Some features seem to be extinct now.

First, the change button .

Most original change buttons are metal buttons.
The reason for this is that,
This was because the metal would often come into contact with the fabric during washing and cause it to tear.
However, before the 1930s,
These urea buttons also had change buttons.
the reason is…
The way we wash clothes is different now.
Of course there was a washing machine.
When dehydrating, I used a roller to squeeze it out.
Because of this, it's easy to crush the button.
Therefore, it was common practice to remove the buttons before washing.

There is a double loop on the back.
Thread the button through the hole.
It was fastened with a double loop from the back.
By the way, this is a personal vintage item.
Sweetall work jacket.

The construction is exactly the same.
This type of button is
It became extinct after the war due to the evolution of washing machines.

And one more place,
I'll note down some of the changes I made to make it more enjoyable for men's clothing.
That's right here, the back of the collar .

The underside of the jacket collar from this era, when much of the work was still done by hand,
It is often made of a slightly thinner fabric than the outer collar.
LEVI'S jackets,
The back of the collar and flap are made of thinner denim than the outer fabric to improve the curl.
Since the 1960s,
This is the kind of effort that has been lost due to mass production.
On the other hand, there are also brands that give individuality to the underside of the collar.
One example is the British brand Paul Smith.
The jackets he makes are
The color cloth on the back of the collar is decorated with an original rainbow stripe.
It makes a statement for the brand and looks cool.
"Expressing individuality" was originally a common practice in the world of British bespoke tailoring.

So I also
I played around with the underside of the collar of a chore jacket.
Adopting color hickory stripes,
Although it's a work jacket, I tried to make it look unique.

In addition, the same material is used for the inner pocket.
Chore jackets are originally made for light work at home,
There are few pockets.
Then, choose unique work materials.
I thought I might try using it in my inside pocket.

The material is broken denim.
A slightly different denim.
The color fades with each wash just like regular denim,
The color does not fade vertically, but randomly.
This is also what makes this material interesting.
I deliberately chose the background color for the stitching,
The work feel is modest.
So at first I dressed up,
If the color starts to fade, try wearing it out.
I think it's a material and detail that can be enjoyed in many different ways.

And on a separate note... a personal note from me.
Actually, this time…

I have taken a food hygiene manager course!
I’m not going to run a restaurant, but…
I want to be a food processor.
(A Dry Bones designer and a double-teamer).
I took this course about 2 weeks ago.
Since then, I have been working with various government offices (such as the health center and the Awa Agricultural Office).
We also make our own brand stickers and product name stickers.
Finally, I managed to get to the prototype!
Photos and details will come later.
It was really hard to get permission (lol)

see you!
