Sakemaru of the spring equinox of 2024.
The beginning of spring in 2024 has passed.
This is Sakemaru.
The fact that it's the beginning of spring means...
Spring is coming!
It will gradually get warmer.
Despite that, there are still many cold days...
But spring is steadily approaching!
I snapped a photo with that image in mind.
In the southernmost part of Chiba Prefecture, there is an area called "Shiramatsu" that is famous for flower picking.
The other day, I went flower picking for the first time since kindergarten.
The flowers I picked were poppies.
Even when grown outdoors, they have already bloomed quite a bit.
I only picked the ones that were still in bud,
After a few days, they all bloomed at once!
The Italian Fifties glass vases,
It will enhance the flowers.
Now.
Today is like now...
During the period when it is slightly cold but the temperature fluctuates greatly,
Introducing the most useful jackets.
Button fly sweat jacket.
It can be fully opened so it can also be worn like a cardigan.
This is the original story.
I'm sorry that I can only see a small part of it...
Mustard colour with full open button fly.
It comes with a very old woven name tag.
Probably the 1930s.
It also has a special design in which the stand collar and top collar are integrated.
If it were a cut and sew item, this type of cut would have been the most convenient.
So I followed their example and created an integrated pattern.
By doing this,
Even though it's a cut and sew shirt, the top collar stays flat.
Around the pockets and the ribbed hem.
The buttons are two-hole, as is typical of casual wear.
The ribbing is attached with a "double stitch."
This is a three-needle cut-and-sew.
A sewing method used before the development of four-needle sewing machines.
I think the ribs were originally the same color...
The ribbing is made using spun yarn, which is "thread wrapped around rubber."
It must have changed over the years.
The color has faded and turned a little.
So we followed that as well.
Two-hole buttons (with notches!)
Double stitching on the split,
The ribs appear to have faded slightly from the body color.
Additionally, I found this version:
Almost the same era and similar design.
Different colour (probably corduroy added to the collar later).
So I made a different color version like this.
Viridian green with olive drab ribbing.
I deliberately made the buttons tan color.
Line up the two colors and snap a photo.
It's called a front-open sweat jacket.
The color scheme is like this.
Here's a close-up.
Both colours are really easy to match.
It looks yellowish in the photo,
Actually, mustard,
The actual color is a bit more muted.
And the fabric is particularly noteworthy.
This is a close-up photo of the back.
It might be a bit difficult to understand if you're not a professional...
This type of sweat fabric is
In Japanese, this fabric is called "Ura-fleece."
In the past, this fabric was scratched and brushed to make a fabric called "fleece" or "fleece lining."
I was making sweatshirts.
The vintage sweatshirt
The fabric was 30/10 brushed fleece.
(The front is made of 30-count thread, the back is made of 10-count thread and the back is scratched.)
However.
Now, the fiber dust that is produced during the act of "scratching" is
It's going to be a source of pollution...
In Japan, most of them have been banned in recent years.
At a super-large cut-and-sew factory,
If you don't have a machine that can suck up the dust,
It became impossible to make fleece lining.
Therefore, items with fleece lining are probably produced overseas.
Since then, this type of "scratch-free fleece" material has become the main material in circulation.
But that makes it a pretty hard sell.
After all, up until now, the selling point has been that it has a "fleece lining."
So, recently I've been talking about this "fleece" material...
It has come to be called "French Terry".
I didn't like the idea of changing the name to avoid the issue...
This sweat jacket from Dry Bones is
I started by changing the yarn count used for knitting!
The surface is made of thick thread count 26.
The back is the second thickest yarn!!!
This is super warm!
What's more, it feels noticeably rough to the touch!
This sweat jacket,
You should definitely get one!
When can I make the next one?
It takes so much effort that you won't even realize it (secret)
Seriously, hurry up!
We have an early-blooming cherry tree in our garden.
The other day I looked up and...
The buds have already swelled quite a bit.
At this rate, they will likely bloom in early March.
It's about time to get ready for cherry blossom viewing.
see you.
