The White Dew of 2024 has arrived.
This is Sakemaru.
It's the time of year when dew forms on the flowers and plants in the early morning.
The days are getting shorter and shorter.
In Tateyama, the warehouse move has finally been completed, so we can finally take a break.
And then...a lot of things were unearthed.
One of them is,
We have postcards that we have been making since the company was founded.
In fact, this month, September 2024...
It's our 35th anniversary since our company was founded!
So this month's blog is a special edition...
Using that postcard,
I would like to look back on our 35 years of history.
Let's start with this photo.
A commemorative postcard announcing the opening!
You can see that I'm really motivated (laughs).
It's actually gold!
This is the first store to open at Gakugeidaigaku Station.
Its name was still "Razzle Dazzle."
It clearly says "September 28, 1989."
The products we sell are completely different from what we have now...
Including modern furniture from the 1950s,
Vintage clothing,
accessories,
They also sold stationery and other items.
The scissors I still use at home are:
It's Solingen, made in West Germany.
And if we look at the events of 1989 in perspective...
Emperor Showa passed away in January, and the new era of "Heisei" began.
And a 3% consumption tax will start in April.
At the time, we were holding an event at Funabashi Seibu Department Store...
On the day of the launch, there was an event, but there were zero sales.
It was the worst day ever.
In October after the store opened,
A major earthquake occurs in San Francisco.
I went to California the following November to buy some supplies...
Just south of San Francisco is a city called San Jose.
I came across a clearance sale at a jeans shop that had been damaged by the earthquake.
I remember buying a bunch of 70505 in dead stock.
After that, I participated in various department store events...
We will be opening a store as a tenant in Ikebukuro Sunshine City.
The date was October 1, 1991.
This time the name is "Ruby Baby"
This is a shop that mainly sells vintage items.
Old style is new style,
What a catchy slogan it says.
Recently, vintage items have been selling like hotcakes...
There is a total shortage of products,
I started planning things myself and working as a manufacturer.
And in this store,
Style Craft (later Evisu Jeans),
We will start handling Fellowes products.
This was afterwards,
It developed into an exhibition called Take Five, which brought together only replica brands.
As a manufacturer, we began to gain momentum.
Fifties gabardine jackets,
We now have a lineup of items such as two-pleat trousers.
So, the store in Gakugei University,
We have decided to move to our current location in Daikanyama.
February 1, 1997.
In front of the store,
The demolition work on the Dojunkai Apartments was still underway.
This is a commemorative photo from the Daikanyama relocation opening party.
Three of the Colts
They performed as "The Three Amigos."
Including the staff at the time,
Our business partners, factories, wholesale retailers,
Many of my friends also came along.
Even Anno from Guitar Wolf is in the picture!
Department store events were also held in various locations...
The store that lasted the longest was the Parco store in Shinsaibashi, Osaka.
This is not a permanent location,
It was open for about two years as a temporary event.
And on exceptional terms.
It opened on September 12, 1998.
I couldn't find the postcard (lol)
And here we are at the turn of the millennium.
A postcard celebrating the new year 2000.
The design of this postcard is actually important...
In the past 2000 years,
Dry Bones woven name tag design
It has been updated to "First, Fuji, second, hawk, third, eggplant."
And then the following year, 2001.
Shinsaibashi Parco itself will be closing,
I was told to withdraw within three months.
That's a problem.
In fact, at that time I had already started looking for a property in Fukuoka, Kyushu.
Just when we were wondering whether we would be able to find it, there was talk of retreating.
That being said, we can't just leave our staff out in the cold...
I started looking for two stores at the same time.
And it was found in Osaka first.
From a real estate agent in Osaka:
"It was the first time I'd ever seen someone make a decision on a property within 30 seconds of looking at the blueprint."
I was told that.
The property is in Kitahorie,
It was only a few minutes' walk from Shinsaibashi Parco, so I decided to go straight away.
The new store opened on August 19, 2001.
We deliberately used Kansai dialect in an attempt to break into new markets.
Of course, we also ship to mail order customers.
A friend's shop nearby
(Evisu Jeans, Full Count, Warehouse, Mambolama, etc.)
I asked them to leave a direct message to
Opened safely!
And without any delay, the Fukuoka store opened.
This is August 25, 2001.
All I remember is how busy I was (lol)
And the following year, 2002.
This year marks the 13th anniversary of its launch.
From the outside, the number "13" may seem odd, but...
For those of us who like secret society rituals,
The 13th anniversary is a time to celebrate.
Therefore, we will be holding a 13th anniversary event!
Every month they release a product with the number "13" on it.
It's something that will be sold.
Starting with printed T-shirts,
13-pattern monogram shirts and 13-pattern bowling shirts,
We also made 13-pattern rings and 13-pattern stadium jackets.
Then a short gap came in 2005.
The Nagoya store has finally opened.
May 15, 2005.
Looking at the three stores from a bird's eye view,
It's great that it's been made into a series
The item in the center has been transformed from Fukusuke to a Shachihoko!
And then 2007.
In fact, from around this time,
We have finally launched our online store.
The Internet is called the "WWW (World Wide Web)"...
The name of the online shop is not "Spider's Web"
The store was named "Kumonosu" and started.
Daikanyama, Tokyo
Aichi/Nagoya,
Kitahorie, Osaka
We have added an online store in Imaizumi, Fukuoka,
To commemorate the lineup of all five stores,
Dry Bones celebrates its 18th anniversary.
For now, just make a postcard,
The idea was to make sure everyone knew about it.
It was a time when there was no social media like there is today.
Announcing the online shop with analog postcards,
Dry Bones was still a group of amateurs (lol)
Well.
I'd like to introduce more later...
We're running out of space.
I will continue writing about this in my next blog post on September 27th.
Everyone, please look forward to it!
