Shiratsuyu Sakemaru 2025.

September 2025.
It's Friday the 5th, the day before Hakuro.
What is Shiratsuyu?
It refers to the "shiratsuyu" that falls on the fields in autumn.
It's the time of year when the air cools and dew forms on the grass in the fields...
A typhoon bringing a lot of rain is passing through today (sweat)
On days like that, I like to stay in my room and watch movies.
The other day, after a long time...
I watched "Quadrophenia."

So today's blog will be about the costumes in this movie.

About the movie "Quadrophenia"
A 1979 British film.

The story is set in 1964.
The protagonist Jimmy is a member of the delinquent group Mods,
The film centers around the rivalry between rival rockers (based on a true story).
I first saw this movie when I was a teenager.
I was fascinated by and admired both the mod and rocker fashion styles!
But as for this blog...
Without mentioning the Rockers,
The Mod team wears
An examination of the so-called "mod coat."

When Jimmy rides his decorated Lambretta,
I usually wear a mod coat.
The inner layer is a Fred Perry short-sleeved polo shirt,
Even if it's a suit with narrow lapels that must have been custom made...
Basically a mod coat.
This name, Mods Coat,
I think this movie probably originated in Japan.
It's amazing what a movie that had such an impact.
The official name of this coat is "PARKA SHELL M-1951."
It's not a jacket or a coat, it's a parka.

Early 1960s,
In the UK, this M-51 could be purchased relatively cheaply from US military surplus stock.
Mods who want to be fashionable
To protect the suit from exhaust fumes from a two-stroke scooter,
I chose this parka because it's long and covers my whole body.
It makes a lot of sense.
The film is set in 1964.
If so, what was the mod coat worn by the mods at the time?
The only option is the M-51 parka.
As proof, all the mod coats in the movie
"The body and the parka are one piece"
It has epaulettes.
This parka series,
In fact, in the US Army,
Starting with M-51 in 1951,
It was produced up to the M-65 in 1965.

(The fur on this hood is made of acrylic and is hard and painful.)
There is also the M-51 cold weather hood liner (coyote fur),
There are many different versions depending on the combination.

This is the mod coat I own.

The body is a separate parka, so it's M-65.
Furthermore, the liner is nylon ripstop, so it is suitable for the M-65.
The parka part is made of coyote fur, so it's an M-51 cold weather hood liner.

Can you tell that the fabric for the body and hood are different?
Because they are sold in a mixed and combined manner like this,
I can't understand the translation (it was hard to look it up: lol)

Personally, this is my favorite part of this parka.

The liner is attached to the inside of the sleeve so that it can be easily bent and stretched.
There are tucks in the sleeves of the outer shell!

And based on this vintage,
This is what Dry Bones created in 2020.

Like the mod coat I have,
This is a masterpiece that combines the best of this series.
Detachable hoodie,
The soft faux fur on the parka (which resembles a coyote),
It also comes equipped with a pile liner for extremely cold climates.
It has turned out to be what I consider to be the perfect "mod coat."

And it's been five years since then.
While watching "Quadrophenia"...
Starting with the main character Jimmy,
I was curious about Ace, who was an idol to the mods.

Next door to Jimmy,
It's hard to tell from the monochrome photo, but
Ace (played by Sting) wears a wine-red leather coat.
It is everyone's dream,
Ace is a leader with a calm demeanor.
That's why,
I think it was a wine-red leather coat.
(Differentiating yourself from other mods) .
He finally
Jimmy sees him working hard as a bellboy while fawning over customers.
Then Jimmy stole his chrome-plated decorated Vespa,
He was thrown off a cliff in Brighton.
This scene is symbolically depicted as "Jimmy's farewell to his youth (or childhood)" (this is where the title "Goodbye Youth" comes into play).

But let's think about it calmly.
Although Ace was treated as a leader by the Mods,
He is independent and works successfully as a bellboy.
Jimmy, a cheeky kid, steals and destroys his Vespa.
It's a disaster (poor Ace and Vespa).

If it were me...
Wearing a wine-red leather coat,
It doesn't give off a calm vibe.
Because I don't want to be looked down upon.
In such a situation, what kind of "mod coat" would be effective?

Tada!
DJ-1203 Fish Tail Shell Hoodie! ! !
A mod coat proposed by Dry Bones for 2025!
It's a camouflage pattern!
It has a military and soldier feel to it!
Cotton nylon blend with water repellent finish
And the camouflage is a woodland pattern!

But it's still a fishtail hoodie!

The hoodie is removable, so
It's easy to ride a motorcycle (and wear a helmet)!

And the sleeve tucks are still there!

This time there is no liner...
The liner of the previous (2020 edition) mod coat,
It's made to fit snugly (and of course there are sizes available to fit vintage liners too).

Of course, the Mods,
Bikers and raincoats,
It's also perfect as a standout coat for dressy occasions!

Because it is dead stock fabric,
The only drawback is that the production numbers are low (sweat)
Hurry up!

One more story about movies.
I recently watched this movie too.

Cocaine Bear.
I won't write much about it because it would be a spoiler...
A gang secretly smuggled drugs and scattered them throughout the mountains.
This comedy thriller tells the story of a bear that goes on a rampage after eating it.

The catchphrase "comedy thriller" is interesting, but...
Apparently, this is based on a true story (surprise!)
What's more, Ray Liotta plays the gang boss .
Apparently this film is his last work .
It's pretty funny (but gory),
I'd love for you to see it...
Considering the recent bear incident in Japan, it's no laughing matter.
Cocaine or mega solar power?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks the only difference is this .

See you later!
