DJ-1125 Border Car Coat
100% wool
Sizes 38 (M), 40 (L), and 42 (XL) are sold out.
We designed and produced the jacket known as the "car coat," which was hugely popular among young people in the 1950s and 1960s.
Made from wool melton or wool tweed, with a half-length body and ribbing on the collar and cuffs, these are generally called car coats (or car club jackets).
It is actually called a wool sports jacket, but in the 1950s there was a culture of competing in speed races by wearing the chenille of the car club you belonged to on the back, so it came to be called that specifically.
This jacket is still in the preliminary stages before the Car Club chenille is attached.
The material is 100% wool flannel, and the striped pattern using three dark tones gives it a classic impression.
The lining is made of smooth cupra material with a quilted finish. It keeps out the cold air of winter.
The ribs are made with 15-count yarn and doubled to produce different colors on the front and back. The large ribs provide a snug fit and are highly resistant to the cold.
The front has a convenient zipper that opens both up and down, so you can wear it casually with the top open, or for a more active look with the bottom open.
The top of the zipper has a classic tab that served to stop the slider, since automatic zippers were still rare in the 1950s.
There is also a small ticket pocket on the left cuff, which gives it a vintage 1950s feel.
As for innerwear, people vary from those who only wear a T-shirt to those who wear sweaters and flannel shirts.
Another fun thing is decorating it in your own way with chenille and patches.
