The design is based on the so-called "grandpa shirt," which was made from the late 19th century until the 1920s.

Clothing like this shirt, which has woven shirt fabric only on the chest area of ​​a long-sleeved cut-and-sew top, was created based on the 19th century British standard that "a shirt must be worn underneath a jacket."

At that time, working-class people who were not well off would wear winter clothing that looked like they were "at least wearing a shirt underneath" when wearing a jacket as an outer layer. So, only the bib part was made of woven shirt fabric, so at first glance it looked like they were wearing a shirt.

In the movie Titanic, the lead actor wears a costume with the same details as this shirt. The setting is that he sneaks onto the luxury liner as a laborer in 1912, so this shirt was probably chosen.

The body is made of thick jersey fabric, and the chest is made of cotton chambray. The shoulder line is lined with a reverse-grained patch to reduce washing wear.
