The design is based on the so-called "grandpa shirt," which was made from the late 19th century until the 1920s.

Clothing like this shirt, which has woven shirt fabric only on the chest area of ​​a long-sleeved cut-and-sew top, was created based on the 19th century British norm that "a shirt must be worn underneath a jacket."

At the time, working-class people who were not well off would wear winter clothing that looked like they were wearing a shirt underneath when they put on a jacket. So, only the bib part was made of woven shirt fabric, so at first glance it looked like they were wearing a shirt.

In the movie "Titanic," the lead actor wears a costume with the same details as this shirt. This shirt was probably chosen because the setting is that he sneaks onto the luxury liner as a laborer in 1912.

The body is made of thick jersey material, with cotton chambray used for the chest switching fabric. A patch with a reverse weave is sewn on the back of the shoulder line to reduce wear when washing.
