The design was inspired by the short-sleeved cotton sweaters that were popular in the 1950s.
The print is a black panther, a motif that was popular in the 1930s and 1940s as a tropical deco motif. It is often depicted with tropical plants in the Art Deco style, and is a unique "Tropical Deco" style centered around Florida. This artistic culture was incorporated into a variety of items.
A typical example of this is the curtains from the 1950s. Tropical Deco, which has an image of tropical modernity, decorated the windows of ordinary people in the 1950s, and was also a sign of increasing wealth.
I chose the textile print of that curtain fabric as the motif for a cotton sweater.
The inlay is made of 100% cotton. It is a cool material with ring-shaped fibers that stand out three-dimensionally. It is thick but has good breathability, so it is useful in the summer when you wear thin clothes.
Needle-punched ribbing is used around the cuffs, collar, and hem. The loose-fitting, stretchy ribbed fabric has a subtle color variation to match the body.
You can wear it with jeans and half boots for a biker look, or with two-pleat trousers and a straw hat for a summer resort feel.
This is a vintage-style summer knit that can be worn in a wide range of summer scenes.
