This is a reproduction of a jacket that was produced as workwear for the US Navy in the 1940s and 1950s.
We have reproduced all of the classic details, such as the distinctive shawl collar (also known as a sailor collar in America), short length, thin denim, and change buttons (which became sewn-on buttons in the 1950s).
At Dry Bones we have been creating modified designs based on this shape for a long time, but this time we have completely redesigned it to make it look more vintage.
Not only the characteristic shawl collar and short length mentioned above, but also the 10 oz thin denim, change buttons, double loop rings on the back of the buttons, and ankle holes around the hem are beautifully reproduced.
Also noteworthy is the weave of the sleeves.
Normally, the grain of these jackets runs vertically, but it has been discovered that there are rare instances where the grain runs horizontally. Collectors believe that this may be older than the 1940s.
I have only seen one piece with horizontal weave on the sleeves, so I cannot comment on it, but the atmosphere of this piece is outstanding.
So, I thought it would be great if we could reproduce it and see the wonderful changes that occur over time, so I produced it.
This jacket was originally very popular as a vintage piece, but the number of vintage pieces is rapidly decreasing.
