We have recreated a raccoon coat that was used for outdoor activities and hunting in the 1920s and 1930s, making it easier to wear.
At that time, there was no ban on fur for animal protection reasons, and raccoon coats were highly valued for outdoor activities, especially for hunting in mountainous regions.
Raccoon means... In America, it means a raccoon, but raccoon dogs are also called "raccoon dogs," and the material has become widespread throughout the world as a mixture of both.
Both raccoons and tanuki were used as fur and leather materials to keep warm at the time.
As time passed, interest in animal protection grew, and jackets began to be made that were made with fake fur that looked similar to fur to provide excellent protection against the cold.
With this background in mind, Dry Bones has designed and produced this jacket with their own unique twist.
This jacket was actually designed and produced by Dry Bones in the 1990s, and there was a strong demand for it to be reproduced at the time. However, more than 30 years passed without us finding the faux fur material that matched this shape... Finally, this season, we are finally planning and producing it.
Although it is a solid grey fake fur, it has a slightly curled texture, reminiscent of a raccoon or a tanuki.
We also deliberately made it a shawl collar to give it a classic feel.
The front buttons are toggle buttons like those used on duffle coats, fastened with thick cotton spindles. Incidentally, the hidden first button is also made of the same material as the toggle button.
The lining is thick, quilted with cotton, providing excellent protection against the cold.
The pockets are also lined with a brushed material, so you can put your hands in to keep them warm.
It's also fashionable to wear the outdoor jackets of that time elegantly around town.
