DS-2781 Carp mouth Shirt “Ninja”
100% Cotton
Koiguchi shirts have long been worn in Japan as work clothes for artisans and as festival attire. They are called koiguchi because the cuffs are narrow like the mouth of a carp.
Originally, it was an item that was worn as a set with a belly wrap and fundoshi, but in postwar Japan it came to be worn as a casual Japanese shirt.
Koiguchi shirts have been worn as festival attire and as uniforms at izakayas. In recent years, they have also come to be coordinated with denim, as they go well with indigo dyed garments such as belly wraps.
This time, I used a new pattern... I added a seam at the shoulder line so that the pattern would be vertical on both the front and back. This type of pattern is called "unidirectional" and the pattern has a top and bottom.
Therefore, if the pattern is one piece with the front and back like a regular Koiguchi shirt, one of the patterns will be reversed. So we added a seam on the shoulder to prevent the back from being reversed.
This koiguchi shirt is made of cotton broadcloth and is covered with ninja patterns, a symbol of ancient Japan.
From the Muromachi period to the Edo period, this shadowy army served feudal lords and feudal lords, engaging in espionage and assassination activities. In modern terms, it would be like Zero Zero Seven or the CIA, and is an overwhelmingly popular character among tourists from overseas.
