About Nikki Leaf Tea

Nikki is an evergreen tree of the Lauraceae family, also known as cinnamon or cinnamon bark. In other countries, cinnamon and cinnamon trees are called cinnamon trees.

Cinnamon is a spice made from the dried bark of Ceylon cinnamon, which is mainly produced in Sri Lanka, and Chinese cinnamon, which is produced in Indochina.

Nikki is a spice made from the roots of Japanese cinnamon, which is cultivated in very small quantities and is rare. The most famous example is the traditional Kyoto sweet "Yatsuhashi."

I dried the Japanese cinnamon leaves and made tea out of them.

Cinnamon leaves have been used as a traditional Chinese medicine since ancient times, and are said to have been introduced to Japan during the Nara period.

If you want a more direct taste.

Put a handful of cinnamon leaf tea (about 1g) into a pot, pour in 500ml of boiling water, and wait about 5 to 10 minutes. You will be able to enjoy a richer cinnamon aroma.

There are also some regions where it is soaked in shochu or other liquids.
