86% cotton, 14% linen
I used colorful Indian madras fabric, following the style of work shirts from the 1940s and 1950s.
Originally, Indian Madras was a rough shirt fabric made for workwear in India under British rule in the 1800s. It has been used for a wide range of items, including aprons and tablecloths, in addition to shirts.
It became popular among young people in England in the 1920s, and then became hugely popular in America during the Ivy League boom in the 1950s.
This time, the color scheme is denim-like with yellow on a blue background, and a vibrant color scheme of black on a pink background.
There are chest pockets on both the left and right sides.
The back of the collar, yoke, and flap are lined with ecru lining, which acts as reinforcement and also accents the garment.
It goes well with denim, of course, but I think the beauty of the check pattern will stand out more when paired with thicker bottoms such as chinos or military pants.
This is a versatile shirt that can be paired with pretty much any bottoms.
