A reproduction of the two-pleat trousers that were hugely popular in America in the 1950s.
The original name was Hollywood Belt 2-Tuck Trousers. The Hollywood Belt is a style of trousers that was popular in central California in the 1950s.
Trousers are normally made with a separate body and belt, and the fabric is sewn with a different grain to prevent it from stretching. However, the Hollywood belts of that time were made with the body and belt as they were. It has been raised to the point where two more tucks have been added, giving it a really beautiful drape.
The side seams are always sewn with a split, and slash pockets are often included.
Also, from the late 1940s to the early 1950s, it was popular to make a pocket with double welts exactly halfway between the tuck and the side seam. This is a very time-consuming way to make a pocket, but... It was faithfully reproduced.
The material is a luxurious twill fabric that is a cotton wool blend with silk.
The back of the belt is fitted with a luxurious anti-slip rubber attachment called Russell.
It is also equipped with suspender buttons, so you can enjoy both a belt and suspenders.
We also have a Nassau jacket made of the same material, so it is perfectly possible to wear it as a suit, just like back then.
In the 1950s, it was worn with a variety of items, including jackets, sweaters, shirts, and cut-and-sew tops.
This is a hidden gem from Dry Bones.
