The design was inspired by hats that were popular in the 1930s to 1950s.
The hat body is made of blades, made by layering thin, tape-like material a few millimeters wide and sewing it together in a spiral to create a round shape.
This is a hidden masterpiece that requires skilled techniques to create the beautiful circle.
The circular hat body is fitted into a mold and starch (glue) is sprayed on it to harden it.
This shape is the first time Dry Bones has used a wooden mold. It is a shape that is rarely seen in Japan, with the ribbon part almost directly upwards to the top. This wooden mold was also unearthed from among the many wooden molds that are a legacy of the Showa era.
The ribbon is especially noteworthy. It is made of cupra satin, a high-quality material that is normally used for the lining of suit sleeves.
Also, like rayon, cupra is a regenerated fiber and is therefore stretchable.
This special material is folded and sewn into three pleats to create a shape. This is a high-quality ribbon shape that was made by hand until around the 1950s. The striped yarn is dyed and sewn on the bias, creating a beautiful regimental pattern.
This hat was inspired by the villain in the movie. It is classic and elegant, perfect for a summer resort look.
