This piece faithfully recreates the double-pleated trousers that were a massive hit in the United States during the 1950s.

They are properly known as "Hollywood Belt" double-pleated trousers.

The "Hollywood Belt" refers to a specific trouser style that was popular in central California during the 1950s.

Typically, trousers feature a separate waistband sewn onto the main body—often with the fabric grain running in a different direction to minimize stretching.

In contrast, the Hollywood Belt style features a continuous cut where the main body fabric extends upward to form the waistband itself; combined with the double pleats, this creates a beautifully elegant drape.

The side seams are always pressed open (flat-felled or split-seam construction), and they usually feature slash pockets.

Additionally, a trend emerged in the late 1940s and early 1950s for placing double-welt pockets exactly halfway between the pleats and the side seams.

While this pocket construction is extremely labor-intensive, we have faithfully reproduced it here.

The side seams also feature hand-stitching.

To be precise, it is decorative stitching designed to look like hand-stitching; at Dry Bones, we use an embroidery machine to replicate this specific detail.

The material is a gabardine weave composed of 80% wool and 20% polyester.
It is a lustrous fabric that offers just the right amount of firmness and body.

The interior of the waistband features a premium non-slip strip made of "Russell" elastic material.

They are also equipped with suspender buttons, allowing you to wear them with either a belt or suspenders.

Back in the 1950s, these trousers were worn with a wide variety of tops—from jackets and sweaters to shirts and cut-and-sew knits.

This is one of Dry Bones' hidden masterpieces.
