We have recreated a style of jacket that was hugely popular in the United States from the late 1940s through the late 1950s.

The material is rayon gabardine, just like the originals.
While jackets of this era were often nicknamed "Gabajans" (gabardine jackets), we have used a substantial rayon twill fabric to get as close as possible to the authentic vintage feel.

True to the original design, this is a short-length jacket featuring a zip-front closure.
Originally created as standard workwear, the style evolved into a "sports jacket" by the late 1940s thanks to its casual, easy-to-wear nature.
Key details include a full-opening front zipper, buttoned cuffs, and a hem featuring elastic tape encased in the self-fabric.
The most distinctive design feature is the pair of flap pockets on the chest.
We have also added hand-stitching to the pocket flaps.
The collar is constructed using the "bag-stitch" method (or enclosed seam) typical of the era, and—like the flaps—it also features hand-stitching.
A cord is inserted alongside the front zipper to prevent the fabric from snagging in the teeth.

With its simple, timeless design, this jacket offers great versatility: wear it formally with a tie, or style it casually like a jersey by pairing it with a T-shirt or other knit top.
It is a truly adaptable piece.

This jacket is made from the same fabric as the DP-887 Rayon Gabardine Two-Tuck Trousers, allowing them to be worn together as a matching set.
