These shorts were designed with the resort wear of the late 1940s to early 1950s in mind.

At first glance, they appear to be standard shorts, but we put a great deal of thought and creativity into their development.

They feature a flat front (no pleats) and a relatively slim cut through the thigh.

A drawstring is threaded through the inside of the waistband, allowing for easy adjustment of the fit—essentially making them comfortable "easy shorts."

They are equipped with slash pockets at the front sides and a single square-shaped back pocket.

This square pocket design coordinates with the matching beach shirt.

The layout ensures ample storage space for times when you aren't wearing an outer layer during the summer.

The side seams feature double-needle chain stitching.

This construction method mirrors that of military-style chino trousers from the era.

The front features a smooth-operating zipper fly.

The fabric is a 100% cotton "butcher weave."

It is a substantial, textured fabric featuring slub yarns woven throughout.

From the mid-1950s, "Space Age" and modern designs flourished, driven by the space race, the popularity of science fiction, and modernist trends in architecture and furniture.

This "mobile" pattern first appeared in the 1955 Montgomery Ward mail-order catalog.

We were able to source an original vintage fabric from 1955, allowing us to faithfully replicate the line distortions and color scheme of the period piece.

Regarding the print screens, we scaled the design down by 17% to account for differences in production standards between 1950s America and 21st-century Japan.
